My work is heavily influenced by an intuitive painting process, as well as my love of color and texture. The moment I was introduced to the art of encaustic wax, about 14yrs ago, I was hooked. I’m continually entranced by the way the hot wax flows and creates luscious layers of luminosity.
Given the fact that I’m painting with 200° wax and wielding a torch, the amount of control isn’t always a given. I’m often surprised with the finished product, which truly is the magic of the process. Being able to translate the world and nature into an intuitive and abstract creation is a pretty awesome opportunity to be free every time I paint.
I’m a lifelong Seattleite and reside in Burien with my husband and 2 Golden Retrievers who love the beach.
